Competitive
Benchmark

The first phase of my research involved reviewing similar digital products. This allowed me to learn and identify how the industry handles and solve the problem.

Crucially, it deepened my understanding of the problem itself. My investigation centered on identifying established conventions and practices: what is considered standard and familiar? Which strategies are successful, and where do they fall short?

At this stage, my attention wasn't on design specifics but on understanding the overall user experience.

Online Survey

I decided to publish an online survey to gather feedback from users.

This will help me to understand user behavior, identifying what's effective and what's not, and determining which changes should be prioritised to enhance the user experience.

Note - Taking

During note-taking, I concentrate on accurately recording the user's thoughts, feedback, and experiences as they interact with the software.

This approach enables me to later identify user needs, pain points, and preferences.

Furthermore, this practice aids in making more informed decisions during the product design process.

Usability test

Finally I decided to perform a live session to test 2 different apps. I focus my research in two key aspects: location and room occupancy. I wanted to test how these apps were providing accurate and friction less access to particular locations and to travel with pets.
